Video: Naomi Campbell faces assault charges

Naomi Campbell is facing charges stemming from her altercation with police at London's Heathrow Airport back in April. The 38-year-old supermodel allegedly spit on an officer during an argument over her missing luggage. Campbell has been charged on six counts, including one for disorderly conduct and three for assaulting a constable. Campbell learned about the charges on Thursday after meeting with Heathrow authorities. That's according to a People magazine report.
Sanjaya Malakar is set to appear in a new advertising campaign for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. The former American Idol contestant, seen in these pictures from a Seattle photo shoot a couple of weeks ago, says he had fun filming the first spot for the company's Life Comes At You Fast campaign. The commercial was shot in India. It shows Malakar getting advice from a guru on his retirement plan and his hair style. The singer says he's happy to have another opportunity to experiment with his hair. Malakar is also working on songs for a new album.
Meanwhile, another former American Idol contender is preparing for fatherhood. Clay Aiken and music producer Jaymes Foster are expecting a baby in August. The pair have reportedly been friends for some time and the child was conceived through artificial insemination. Aiken and Foster have worked together on several of the singer's albums.
Steven Tyler is speaking out about his stint at a rehab facility earlier this month. The rocker reportedly entered the center to recuperate from foot surgery. Tyler released a statement saying he needed a safe place to recover from the operations. The Aerosmith star, who is notorious for his active onstage performances, has apparently been suffering from foot problems for some time. He reassured fans in the statement that Aerosmith will be back for a new album and another tour.
Sex and the City: The Movie opened today in U.S. theaters. The film, starring Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, is expected to take in more than $34 million during its opening weekend. Even though the film is sold out in theaters across the country, some speculate that the movie's R rating will prevent it from overtaking Indiana Jones at the box office. That's all according to an E! News report.

Miley Cyrus is apologizing to fans for some provocative pictures in Vanity Fair magazine. The Hannah Montana actress tells People magazine she's embarrassed about the photo spread, which she says, was only meant to be artistic. Cyrus was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the publication, and appears to be topless and only covered only by a blanket.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Baby Mama topped the box offices over the weekend. The comedy took the number one spot at U.S. theaters taking in more than 18 million dollars in ticket sales in its first weekend out. Another comedy, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay with John Cho and Kal Penn landed in second. Last weeks topper The Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan grabbed number 3. That's all according to box office mojo.
Sources are rejecting reports that Amy Winehouse is headed for divorce court. Someone close to the singer and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil tells People magazine the pair have not decided yet if they will part ways. This comes after several British publications said the two were divorcing and have been unfaithful to one another. Winehouse and Fielder-Civil first met in 2003 and married in 2007.
Stars stepped out in Hollywood over the weekend for the annual GLAAD Awards. The event honors the media's fair representation of the gay and lesbian community. ABC's Ugly Betty starring America Ferrera grabbed outstanding drama. The show's stars Michael Urie and Becky Newton were at the event on Saturday night. Brothers and Sisters with Sally Field took outstanding drama series. At the event, Janet Jackson was honored with the Vanguard Award for using her work to increase the visibility and understanding of the gay and lesbian community. She was presented the award by Ellen Degeneres.
Fans welcomed another set of stars on the red carpet at the premiere of Speed Racer. The film's star Emile Hirsch was at the event on Saturday night along with other cast members like Christina Ricci, Susan Surandon and John Goodman. The film is about a young man following his ambitions to be a top racecar driver. The movie hits U.S. theaters on May 9.

Wesley Snipes will spend the next three years of his life behind bars. The 45-year-old actor was sentenced yesterday as punishment for failing to file his tax returns. Snipes apologized to his family, the court and the community. Prosecutors say he owes a total of $41 million in taxes.
Carmen Electra and her boyfriend guitarist Rob Patterson are making it official. The actress's rep says the pair got engaged last weekend. Patterson apparently proposed while the two were in Las Vegas celebrating her birthday. Sources say he got her a ring with a black diamond set in white diamonds. The rocker and Electra have been dating for less than a year.
Rapper Snoop Dogg is now allowed in Britain. A British judge reportedly rejected the government's decision to deny Snoop Dogg a visa to get into the country. The rapper was reportedly involved in a fight in London's Heathrow airport in 2006. The government argued that his presence would be non-conducive to the public good.
Madonna is shining a light on orphans in the African country of Malawi through her new documentary. The pop star premiered her work called I am Because we are in New York last night at the Tribeca Film Festival. Madonna is in the process of adopting an orphan from Malawi. She met the boy nearly two years ago while making the film.
Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow took to the red carpet last night for the premiere of Iron Man in London. The comic book hero adventure is the story of a genius inventor played by Downey who works for the government and creates a suit of armor to fight crime as Iron Man. Paltrow plays Iron Man's assistant. The movie opens in the U.S. next Friday.

Britney Spears' lawyers are getting a nice big payday. Yesterday, an LA court ordered nearly 400,000 dollars in payment for attorneys involved in the singer's affairs for the past few months. Included in the lawyers waiting to cash in are her court appointed attorney, the co-conservator of her finances and the legal team helping out her family members.
Now that American Idol is over for Kristy Lee Cook, she can focus on another big day…her wedding. The singer, who was eliminated from the show earlier this week, has revealed her secret engagement to her boyfriend Andy Dobner. He reportedly proposed to her in March at her Idol apartment, but they decided to keep it quiet. Cook says there's no wedding date yet but they're thinking next June.
Fans are going wild over Mariah Carey's new album. The singer signed copies of E=MC2 for hundreds of people at Universal studios yesterday. Early sales numbers show the album is already a big hit since it's release earlier this week. It may even top the album charts next week. The CD is a follow up to her 2005 hit The Emancipation of Mimi.
David Hasselhoff and his ex Pamela Bach have finally reached a divorce deal. According to settlement papers, the former Baywatch actor has agreed to hand over $25,000 a month to support Bach and their two daughters. But they will share joint custody of the girls, 17 year old Taylor and 15 year old Hayley. The pair divorced in 2006 after 16 years of marriage.
Britain's Prince Harry is now a lieutenant. The Prince, who recently returned from duty in Afghanistan, has reportedly been promoted from second lieutenant. A British newspaper says it gives him a raise in salary and also means he could reach the captain status in three years.

Former O.C. star Mischa Barton is reportedly planning to accept a plea deal following her recent DUI arrest. Sources tell People magazine in order to get out of jail time, the actress will plead no contest to the charge and take a deal. The agreement would give her 3 years probation, a 1700 dollar fine, and would require her to take an alcohol education class. Barton's arraignment is set for Thursday.
Actor Rob Lowe is taking legal action against his former household employee. The actor is suing his ex nanny for defamation and breach of contract. In a blog post yesterday, the actor said the woman is threatening to leak lies about Lowe and his wife, unless they pay her $1.5 million dollars. The actor says he's devastated that a woman he trusted could betray him and his family. The babysitter apparently worked for him for seven years, on and off.
Pamela Anderson is getting her own reality show. The former Baywatch star has reportedly signed on for a new series on E! Called Pamela. The program will be just about the actress' love life and career...but not about her children. The show is following a trend of other celeb reality shows. Lindsay Lohan's mom Dina and Denise Richards have also signed on for shows of their own. Anderson's series is scheduled to start this summer.
The release date for Tom Cruise's new film Valkyrie is being delayed again. The World War II film is now set for a release in February 2009...eight months after it's original scheduled day. Producers aren't giving specific reasons for the delay...only saying they want the best release date possible. The film has already undergone several other delays...including damaged footage requiring several scenes be re-shot.
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Helena Christensen were honored last night for their charity work. The two were recognized at New York's Food Bank's annual Can-Do Awards. Paltrow, who says she's worked in food banks for years says she's honored to be given such an award. Other stars like model Petra Nemcova and Food Network star Rachel Ray were there to show support as well.
