Customer Reviews: Read 5 more reviews... better buy more specialized books June 7, 2008 This book is a good overview of the different visas available. However, it really skimps on details of applying for greencard & citizenship. In only one chapter, the many scenarios are all jumbled together, which causes me to be confused on which parts are relevant. I got much better detail from things on the internet. The author has other books that specifically focuses these topics, and they may be more useful. DON'T BUY BOOKS FROM CONVICTED CRIMINALS!!! March 17, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful Does the review title sound a bit extreme? It's not, unfortunately. Laurence Canter was an immigration lawyer (along with his wife, Martha Siegel). In 1987, they were both suspended from the Florida bar, and forced to resign after being charged with a number of ethical violations. The Florida Bar said, "The Florida Bar further alleges that Canter committed perjury by filing a false affidavit with the Bar and while testifying under oath in a deposition. These charges resulted after an audit of Canter's trust account by the Bar showed that trust funds were held in Canter's account during the time period when he denied any funds were present." In 1997, Canter was permanently disbarred in Tennessee, partly due to the fact they the pair were THE ORIGINATORS OF MODERN INTERNET SPAM. Yep, in 1994, these parasites spammed all of usenet in an attempt to get $50 from hopeful immigrants for which they provided nothing but a green card lottery application form. They are criminals, they are spammers, they are liars, and they are unrepentant. Do NOT trust anything they say or write. Do NOT buy their books. (Note: Martha Siegel purportedly died in 2000.) Neat! March 6, 2005 9 out of 11 found this review helpful I was so pleased when I stumbled across this book in my local library. U.S. Immigration Made Easy is a godsend. It honestly has everything you'd ever want to know about every type of visa out there. It's all here, in black and white, and not in confusing legal mumbo jumbo. There is a section on each visa and its process, and at the end of each section there is a checklist with all the documents you would need. There is even an appendix of tear-out forms you can actually use. How convenient! Organized, easy to read, and easy to understand, this book truly makes the tedious and frustrating process of immigration seem more doable and less overwhelming. Highly recommended.
